Eduard Tower Haiger

Detailed description

The 10-meter-high Eduard Tower was named after the former cloth merchant Eduard Schumacher (1832-1880) from Viersen. He frequently traveled to Haiger, as he found the climate very pleasant for health reasons and enjoyed spending his days observing the city of Haiger from the location of the Eduard Tower. In memory of the Rhinelander and his generous donation for the construction of the observation tower, a commemorative plaque made of white marble was inscribed with the words “Eduard Schumacher from Viersen, born November 21, 1832, died April 27, 1880; erected in memory 1883.”
