Niederbreitbach

Event

St. Laurentius Kirmes

For more than 150 years, the Junggesellenverein has been organizing the St. Laurentius Kirmes, the patron saint's festival, in Niederbreitbach on behalf of the parish. Every year on the second weekend in August, the name day of our patron saint is celebrated from Friday to Monday. It traditionally starts with the tree-raising ceremony on the village square, before a large parade through the entire village takes place on Saturday. On Saturday evening, we organize a concert with a live band, which has been held in an open-air format since 2021 and attracts many guests of all ages and beyond the parish boundaries. On Sunday, the festive high mass is followed by a parade to the fairground and a morning pint. The afternoon is dedicated to families with a wide range of fun activities for young and old. Of course, the traditional King's Ball on Sunday evening with music and dancing is also a must. The final day of the fair is Monday. It begins again with a morning pint before the local community gathers for a communal stew. Afterwards, the bachelors are sent out to collect the eggs in the village, which are then baked and eaten together in the evening. The end of the fair consists of a cozy get-together, which since 2023 has been spiced up by a very funny, interactive quiz show.
