Directions

The free parking lot right next to the church in Windhagen offers an ideal opportunity to park your car safely. The start is located opposite the former "Zur Post" restaurant. You walk down the path directly into the forest.

You will soon reach the idyllic Bockental valley. After a few meters, the path leads you past the Schützenhaus to the Bockental hut. It is worth taking a short break here and continuing along beautiful field paths towards Günterscheid.

From Günterscheid, follow the path towards Oberelsaff. On the way, you will pass the village community center and the small chapel, which are worth a short stop. The route continues through open meadows and shady sections of forest until you reach the hill near Frohnen. From here, you have a wonderful view of the Hallerbach valley. The trail then takes you back towards Windhagen, past rural fields and quiet paths, until you reach the starting point again at the parking lot next to the church.

Safety instructions

  • Wear sturdy shoes and appropriate clothing that is suitable for the weather and protects you from the cold and wet or the heat and sun.
  • Take enough liquid with you. Refreshment stops are not available everywhere.
  • Please wear hiking boots appropriate to the route, which will give you sufficient grip even on slippery and steep or rocky and uneven paths.
  • If you are of the opinion that certain sections of the trail are not suitable for you, you should avoid them. Especially in adverse weather conditions, muddy and slippery passages can occur on near-natural paths.
  • Particularly in the fall, you should also be aware that leaves lying on the ground can hide uneven surfaces, roots, stones or holes in the path. You have to expect this type of path impairment when you go on a hike.
  • Although the path is very well marked throughout, you should always have a suitable hiking map with you for safety reasons.
