Summery refreshment in an idyllic location! The natural swimming pool Niederhonnefeld in the local community of Straßenhaus is beautifully situated and promises individual relaxation for all ages amidst greenery. When the weather permits, one can splash, swim, or simply unwind here every day in summer. The natural swimming pool Niederhonnefeld was initially created as a mill pond to supply the mills located further down the valley with dam water. In the 1930s, the mill pond was transformed into a bathing area, which has been attractive to both the local population and the emerging tourism and still is today. The long tradition of the bathing facilities and their use across generations foster a strong identification among the citizens. The special feature of the pool, besides its idyllic location in the valley, is the untreated, natural water. The use of stream water to fill the pool brings not only cost advantages in operation but also a unique appeal for many target groups who specifically avoid chlorinated baths for reasons of conviction or intolerance. A special bathing experience is offered by the water play device acquired by the support association. The covered seating area at the “Nixenblick” invites for a cozy stay.
