Directions

The theme of the forest adventure trail in Neustadt (Wied) is "Experience the forest" - an adventure for the whole family. It leads through the forest between the Obereilenberg district and the Schützenhaus, along the "Im Schiefer" road.

Two parking lots are available as starting points: the Obereilenberg parking lot and the "Im Schiefer" parking lot (near the Schützenhaus).

The forest adventure trail was specially developed for families and children and invites you to go on exciting discovery tours. They are accompanied by the mountain spirit Berti, who guides young visitors through the forest on the information boards and tells interesting stories and facts about nature.

Access to the circular trail is below the forest parking lot on the main road - this is where the adventure begins with the first adventure station on the subject of "Snakes and reptiles". A wooden snake invites children to balance on it and train their balance in a playful way.

An exciting climbing experience awaits the little explorers: a climbing spider web close to the ground invites young climbing fans to explore and try it out.

Another station is dedicated to the topic of "Sounds in the forest". Here, children learn what the forest sounds like - from the creaking of old trees to the gentle rustling of leaves and the sounds of native animals.

The children discover how squirrels and foxes use their jumps and test in a jumping pit which animal their jumping power most closely matches.

Other highlights along the trail include the "View through the forest" station with an oversized compound eye and the imposing "Tower of life".

A board on the subject of "Wood & Use" invites visitors to count the annual rings of a tree trunk and learn more about the age and growth of trees in a fun way.

A special regional reference is made at the "Mining and Nature" station. Under the motto "Nature is reclaiming the mine", visitors can learn how nature is gradually reclaiming former mining areas.
