The town hall, formerly the seat of the court and the town scales, still houses the town administration.
On the former Buttermarkt - today simply called Marktplatz - there are neat town houses, former merchants' houses and, with theHaus Markt 1/2, a baroque building with a mansard roof. The town hall with its striking clock tower (originally built in 1589, rebuilt after the town fire in 1626), once the seat of the councillors, the court and the town scales, still houses the town administration today. In 1994, an extension was added to it. The surrounding coat-of-arms border (reproductions from 1914) is remarkable; in addition to the town coat-of-arms, it also shows the coats-of-arms of important Herborn families from the time when the town hall was built. Stamp No. 1 from the WesterwaldSteig is available here.
