Mehren

half-timbered village

Brief description

An idyllic half-timbered village under monument protection.

Detailed description

Mehren likely originated during the time of the Migration Period. The listed town center consists of timber-framed houses
mostly from the 18th century, an old school - a magnificent late Gothic timber-framed house from the 16th century - as well as the
three-nave Protestant parish church (circa 1200). Awarded the title of the most beautiful village in Rhineland-Palatinate in the competition "Our village should become more beautiful! Our village has a future!" and twice a national winner, Mehren is worth a visit.
