Guided tour of the Basalt Park

Description

An interesting insight into basalt mining in earlier times. The Basalt Park is a recultivated quarry featuring an idyllic basalt lake.
A circular path with information boards provides details about the history of basalt mining in Bad Marienberg. The open-air museum offers interesting insights into the volcanic activity of the region approximately 25 million years ago. Here, the different types and crystallization forms of basalt can still be well recognized.
