Brief description

Large folk festival with a Thanksgiving parade, marquee, showmen and live music

Description

The traditional Thanksgiving festival will be celebrated again in Friesenhagen from September 21st to 23rd. The highlight is the big pageant, which starts on Sunday, September 22nd at 2:30 p.m. This year too, visitors can look forward to impressive theme floats, creative foot and rider groups and some music bands. The Thanksgiving festival traditionally begins with a festive service on Saturday at 6:30 p.m. in the parish church of St. Sebastianus Friesenhagen. Afterwards the party begins in the large marquee. The band Elevation will ensure a great atmosphere until late into the night. On Sunday the traditional parade starts at 2:30 p.m. In addition to the magnificently decorated harvest crown, you will be able to admire many great motif floats and foot groups this Sunday. The technically sophisticated floats and the beautifully costumed foot and rider groups have ensured that the pageant is known nationwide and attracts thousands of visitors to Friesenhagen year after year. Be it a sawmill, a coal pile, a potato field, a blacksmith's shop, a herb garden or a bakery, there is actually nothing that the creative train participants have not already built on a wagon and presented in Friesenhagen's streets. As a spectator, you are very close and are often presented with homemade delicacies by the train participants. The parade starts at Blumenberg and then moves through Strahlbach, Wintert and Hauptstraße to the festival site. In addition to a concert in the large festival tent (free entry), visitors can also expect bumper cars, a shooting gallery, children's carousel, special snack and market stalls and much more. Since the town thoroughfare will be largely closed from 1 p.m., festival visitors are asked to arrive in town in good time. The fire department will direct visitors to the designated parking spaces. Monday begins at 11.30 a.m. with the traditional morning pint, organized by the “Concordia” Friesenhagen music club. At lunchtime, delicious home cooking is served in the marquee. Younger guests will get their money's worth with face painting and a separate entertainment program.
