An old oak in the valley of the Holbach must have had a magical attraction to Andreas Herborn from the Westerwalddorf Großholbach around the year 1830. Perhaps, however, was the fact that the tree lay exactly on the old pilgrimage route to Our Lady of Wirzenborn in the Yellow Valley no mistake?
In any case, Herborn struck a niche into the oak tree, stating a Madonna figure with two angels. Almost 100 years later, the memorial was protected by a wooden porch, then by the now burnt out oak by further annexes. In 1963, the foundation stone for today's chapel was laid, which could be inaugurated one year later, and the rest of the so-called Bildches Eich with the Madonna to this day.
Today, the small chapel in the cool Bachaue invites you to rest and contemplation at any time.
