Detailed description

THE DAAD VALLEY RAILWAY
HOURLY, RELIABLE, MODERN
The Westerwaldbahn has been operating the route and services on the Daaden Valley Railway since 1994. The public transport authority - the Rhineland-Palatinate North Rail Passenger Transport Association (SPNV-Nord for short) - put the Daaden-Betzdorf route out to tender in 2013. The Westerwaldbahn applied and was awarded the contract to operate the line until 31 December 2029.

Today, we operate the Daaden Valley railway every hour. We use diesel-electric articulated railcars for regular train journeys. The three metre wide and 38.7 metre long articulated railcars have 98 seats, 11 of which are in first class, and their special features include air conditioning as standard, a low-floor ratio of 70 percent and a barrier-free WC system. The maintenance of these vehicles takes place in our own workshop in Steinebach-Bindweide.

The Daadetalbahn is operated every hour from 04:40 to 22:21 on the route from Betzdorf to Daaden. The route runs from Betzdorf via Alsdorf to the stops in Schutzbach, Niederdreisbach and Biersdorf. The final stop is Daaden. Here the station is very centrally located in the immediate vicinity of the town centre.

Tickets are sold quickly and reliably by the driver on the train using electronic ticket printers.
