Description

After the first training on January 21 is already fully booked, Reiner Lemmer offers another date: "Map, compass, GPS, Komoot & Co." is the topic of a free training course offered by the main association of the Westerwald-Verein e.V. Montabaur in cooperation with the Stöffel Park. It will take place on Saturday, February 4, 2023, from 9:30 a.m. to about 2:30 p.m. at Stöffel Park, Stöffelstraße, in Enspel.

Navigating in the digital age "Somehow this doesn't look familiar to me at all.... Lost again! Where am I?" or in Wäller Platt: "Heij worren mer doch grad irscht?":

These are situations on hikes that you don't have to experience. Whereas in the past it was important to know how to use a compass and map to find your way, today in the digital age apps, cell phones or GPS devices make it easier to find your way in the terrain.

In order to provide practical tips here, Rainer Lemmer, who has been working as a hiking guide on a voluntary basis for years and has already created trails himself, offers this training for hikers.

Rainer Lemmer is head of the hiking & leisure department in the main association of the Westerwald-Verein e.V. For hiking and biking The focus of the training is the practical introduction to digital tour planning using the example of one of the most successful outdoor apps in Europe: Komoot. How to apply the basics of map reading and navigation to combine them with new techniques for hiking or biking will also be explained during the training.

Everyone interested is welcome

Anyone may participate; club membership in the Westerwald Association is not absolutely necessary. After the training, which takes place in the Tertiärum, this museum room can be visited free of charge. Do not forget: Please provide your own food and drinks on the date.
