Altenkirchen City Hall
With her novel "The Game of the Nightingale", the successful author set a monument to the most famous minstrel of the Middle Ages: Walther von der Vogelweide. His career began at the court of Duke Leopold V. There in Vienna he not only learned the art of minnesong, but was also in the midst of the intrigue of the powerful. Walter praises many rulers through his music, but he serves only one master - and that is himself. He experienced the capture of the English king Richard the Lionheart at first hand in Erdberg near Vienna.
Together with the sounds of the Capella Antiqua Bambergensis, Tanja Kinkel takes the audience on a very special literary-musical journey into the time of Richard Löwenherz and Walter von der Vogelweide and tells of an encounter that was to become the decisive turning point in both Richard and Walther's life.
Tanja Kinkel, born 1969 in Bamberg, won her first literary prizes at the age of 18. She studied German language and literature, theatre and communication studies in Munich. In 1992, she founded the children's aid organisation "Brot und Bücher e.V." (Bread and Books) in order to actively support a more humane world (www.brotundbuecher.de). Tanja Kinkel's novels have been translated into more than a dozen languages and span the period from the foundation of Rome to the America of the 21st century.
The musicians of the Capella Antiqua Bambergensis play more than 50 historical musical instruments. The greatest possible authenticity of the instruments is emphasized. The great variety of musical instruments has been the unique selling point of the Capella Antiqua for more than 30 years, which has been awarded the German Record Critics' Prize and the German LEOPOLD Media Prize.
