Since its founding in 2009, the Mongolian Persian formation SEDAA has uniquely combined the archaic sounds of traditional Mongolian music with oriental harmonies and rhythms into a fascinating whole. Nasaa Nasanjargal, a masters singer trained in her Mongolian homeland, and Naraa Naranbaatar and virtuoso dulcimer player Ganzorig Davaakhuu, together with the Iranian multi-instrumentalist Omid Bahadori, are whisking off into a truly exotic world between the Orient and the Mongolian steppe. The basis of her modern compositions are natural sounds - produced with traditional instruments and the use of ancient vocal techniques of nomadic ancestors, in which a person produces several sounds simultaneously. Vibrant undertone singing and throat singing Hömii as well as the wistful sounds of horse-head violin Morin Khuur merge with pulsing drum rhythms to create a mystical soundscape of vibrations and moods, taking the listener on an acoustic journey along the Silk Road.
