"We are very proud that our Waldfest has enjoyed such great popularity for 2 decades. Not only for the inhabitants of Ehlscheid, but also for many visitors from the neighbouring villages, the event is always firmly scheduled in the calendar," Petra Jung, 1st chairwoman of the Möhnenverein 1989 Ehlscheid e.V., is pleased to say. The forest festival will start at 15:00. "Even though the date is during the summer holidays, we will also be thinking of our younger guests," Petra Jung reveals the plans for the children's programme that will start then. The kids can let off steam with a great range of games, while parents and grandparents will enjoy the wide variety of cakes and fresh coffee. Accompanied by the spa concert of the music society Harmonie from Kurtscheid from 15:30, the festival will also take full speed musically. In the evening there will be freshly grilled food, homemade side dishes and some delicious surprises from 18:00. From 19:30 o'clock then in Ehlscheid the dance leg is swung to the best hits of all times. "Of course, we will also have a small champagne bar again with a special range of drinks," promises Petra Jung, and she hopes that the weather will bring a wonderful summer night. The forest festival serves many purposes. On the one hand, it ensures sociability and cohesion in the village. But on the other hand, the association also uses the Waldfest to generate revenue for the carnival. "Proceeds are invested in our children's groups, the decoration and the program of our meeting. Only in this way can we succeed in remaining an attractive association in the long term," says the 1st chairwoman, describing the motivation. The Möhnenverein Ehlscheid covers up-to-date to 100 members, tendency rising. "In times of the club dying, we are very happy that our membership numbers are steadily increasing. We are a great troop, all age groups are represented," Petra Jung is pleased.
