Actor and author Steffen Schroeder presents his new novel. He is coming to Stöffel Park for the second time, and he provides a good reason to mark the date - Friday, 25 November 2022, 7.30 pm - thickly in your calendar. Because you will meet world-famous personalities in the Alte Schmiede. This time, Schroeder will not let the audience meet a murderer, but world-famous scientists. But you will get to know them from a different side.
His novel "Planck oder Als das Licht seine Leichtigkeit verlor" (Planck or When Light Lost Its Lightness) is set in October 1944. Steffen Schroeder tells of the friendship between Max Planck and Albert Einstein, of the relationship between famous fathers and their sons, of love in troubled times. And about how the music of Johannes Brahms connects everything. The reading will again be relaxed and entertaining - also because Heinz Fischer (Westerburg) will chat a bit with the author and elicit some interesting facts from him. At 86, Max Planck is facing the most difficult task of his life. The Nobel Prize winner is to write a "Confession to the Führer". A lot hangs on it, because Planck's beloved son Erwin, who took part in Hitler's assassination attempt on 20 July, is on death row in Tegel. Planck thinks back to happy days and the dark turn of time. His companions are in exile, and he misses Albert Einstein most of all. Einstein is doing research in America and devotes himself to many things, especially women, but not at all to his son Eduard, who is wrestling with his inner demons and his distant father in the Burghölzli sanatorium in Zurich. Max Planck, together with his daughter-in-law Nelly, writes petitions for clemency for Erwin; the latter discovers the vastness of existence in a prison cell. In the Reich Chancellery in Berlin, Adolf Hitler dreams in front of a painting. And Eduard Einstein realises what holds the world together at its core, while his genius father does not even suspect the duplicity of his Russian mistress.
About the author Steffen Schroeder, born in Munich in 1974, is an actor and writer. He was a member of the ensemble at Vienna's Burgtheater before following Claus Peymann to the Berliner Ensemble. He has appeared in numerous television series and feature films, such as "SOKO Leipzig" and "Der rote Baron". Schroeder is committed to the White Ring and against right-wing extremism, and since 2017 he has been an ambassador for the organisation Exit-Deutschland. His book "Was alles in einem Menschen sein kann. Begegnung mit einem Mörder" (Encounter with a Murderer, 2017) triggered a great response. His debut novel "Mein Sommer mit Anja" (My Summer with Anja) was published in 2020. Steffen Schroeder lives with his family in Potsdam.
