Erntedankfest Friesenhagen

Description

From 23 to 25 September, the traditional harvest festival will be celebrated again in Friesenhagen. The highlight is the big parade that starts on Sunday, 24 September at 2.30 pm. This year, too, visitors can look forward to impressive themed floats, creative groups on foot and on horseback and several music bands.

The harvest festival traditionally starts with a festive service on Saturday at 6.30 pm in the parish church of St. Sebastianus Friesenhagen. Afterwards the party starts in the big marquee. Two cover bands will provide the finest live music until late at night.

On Sunday, the traditional procession starts at 2.30 pm. In addition to the splendidly decorated harvest crown, there will be many great floats and foot groups to admire on this Sunday. The handcrafted floats and the wonderfully costumed foot and horse groups have already ensured that the procession is known beyond the region and attracts thousands of visitors to Friesenhagen year after year. Whether sawmill, charcoal kiln, potato field, smithy, herb garden or bakery, there is actually nothing that the creative procession participants have not already built on a float and presented in Friesenhagen's streets. As a spectator, you are very close to the procession and are often presented with homemade delicacies by the participants. The procession starts at the Blumenberg and then moves through Strahlenbach, Wintert and Hauptstraße to the festival square.

There, visitors can look forward to a concert in the large marquee (admission free), bumper cars, a shooting gallery, a children's carousel, special snack and market stalls and much more. As the main road through the village will be closed from 1 p.m. onwards, visitors are asked to arrive in good time. The fire brigade will direct visitors to the designated parking areas.

Monday starts at 11.30 a.m. with the traditional morning pint, organised by the music association "Concordia" Friesenhagen. At noon, delicious home cooking will be served in the festival tent. Younger guests can enjoy face painting and a separate entertainment programme.
