Bäckerei und Konditorei Gilgen´s
The history of Gilgen's Bakery & Confectionery began back in 1880 in Hennef-Uckerath. And that was with a 100kg sack of rye.
From the very beginning, the artisanal production of baked goods and confectionery products using the best quality raw materials has always been a top priority. Many of these come directly from the region, such as the milk from Wiesberger Milchhof in Hennef, flour and eggs from the Bergisches Land region and many of the sausage products from the local butcher Hielscher.
Then as now, every loaf of bread is made by hand and is therefore unique. The spelt and rye sourdoughs are also specially prepared.
Craftsmanship is also very important in the patisserie. Here, seasonal cake and tart creations are made by hand, fruit spreads are boiled down, and individual cakes for very special occasions are also baked here with great attention to detail.
The cafés invite you to enjoy a hearty breakfast, a snack at lunchtime or a cosy coffee. And with fair trade coffee, by the way.
