Description

Immerse yourself in the development of the castle from the first documentary mention in 1255 until today.

Dr Jens Friedhoff, historian and connoisseur of the von Hatzfeldt family, explains the history in the castle park, the lower and upper castle courtyard, the chapel and the inner courtyard. Schönstein Castle, steeped in history, rises on a rock at the mouth of the Elbbach stream into the Sieg. First mentioned in a document in 1255, it is now privately owned by the House of Hatzfeldt-Wildenburg.
