Friedrich Wilhelm Raiffeisen - a historical figure who continues to influence social structures all over the world. Few people know where he was born and grew up: in Hamm (Sieg). Come to Raiffeisen's birthplace and discover more about him in the German Raiffeisen Museum.
On 2 floors and in 8 exhibition rooms, the German Raiffeisen Museum gives you an insight into the life and work of the greatest son of Hamm (Sieg), Friedrich Wilhelm Raiffeisen.
Numerous originals are on display: Raiffeisen's birth certificate, documents on his education, as well as writings and minutes from his various mayoral posts. A highlight of the exhibition is the original death mask, which was made immediately after Raiffeisen's passing. And, of course, the founding period of the cooperatives is documented. All in all: a historical journey into the Westerwald of the 19th century.
In a separate room, books and documents, pictures and small gifts from visitors from many countries of the world are exhibited. Their guest gifts bear witness to the global significance of Raiffeisen's idea today.
The German Raiffeisen Museum is barrier-free.
