For the fifth time in a row, the Oranienstadt Dillenburg is raising the curtain for the "5th Dillenburger Figuren Theater Tage"!
The popular series of events will once again take place in Dillenburg from March 14 - 17, 2024. Tickets for the four performances are available from the Tourist Information Office.

With the engagement of renowned and established puppet theaters from all over Germany, the Oranienstadt Dillenburg as organizer focuses on a high-quality programme for families, children, young people and adults. The well-known theaters stand for high play quality that meets the artistic demands of modern, experience-oriented puppet theater. In addition to existing events, the series of events launched in 2018 is another highlight in Dillenburg's cultural program and is unique in this form in the Lahn-Dill district. The lovingly staged performances for young and old alike are extremely popular.

The long history of puppetry goes back to ancient Greece and Egypt. The talking and acting wooden figures are known in almost every region of the world. Five prominent plays invite you into this diverse world of wonderful puppet theater: "Peter and the Wolf", "Sleeping Beauty", "Pettersson & Findus", "Mother Hulda" and "Everyman". Although many people know puppets and puppet plays from their childhood, puppetry has changed significantly over the years. In professional productions with elaborate texts, nimble hands and a variety of different voices, the trained puppeteers bring their hand-carved figures to life, creating artistic performances of great intensity. For many enthusiasts, they are even more alive than the animated figures in 3D Hollywood productions. The productions are characterized above all by the fact that every detail, no matter how small, receives the utmost attention and care in the implementation. Be it in the expressive, finely carved figures, the costumes, the set design or the lighting and sound technology.

The children's performances, open to children between the ages of 3 and 6, will take place on Thursday and Friday at 4.00 pm in the atrium of the Wilhelm-von-Oranien-Schule in Jahnstraße in Dillenburg. The other children's plays start at 3 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

Tickets are available in advance from March 1, 2024 at the Tourist Information Office in the Old Town Hall (Hauptstraße 19) in Dillenburg. Admission is €6 per person for the children's performances in the afternoon. For last-minute visitors, a box office will be set up on site on the respective event days from 30 minutes before the start of the event - tickets are available while stocks last.
