Oranienstadt Dillenburg and Fähnlein zu Dillenburg e.V. present the 3rd Dillenburg Fairytale Festival
Under the title "3rd Dillenburg Fairytale Festival", the public will be whisked away into a world of the past and fantasy on the Whitsun holidays on the Dillenburg castle grounds. The Oranienstadt Dillenburg and the Fähnlein zu Dillenburg e.V. association invite you to a promising program of events from 18 - 20 May 2024. Two event formats can be visited and marveled at by the guests.
Promising stage program
The Whitsun weekend kicks off on Saturday, May 18 with the spectacular and breathtaking fire show "Funkenflug und Schattenklang" under this year's motto "Burning Violin". As dusk falls, the members of the Fähnlein zu Dillenburg will literally set the air on fire. Visitors will be treated to a furious show of fire, light, dance and music, this year accompanied by the sounds of the violin. The fire show can be seen again on Whit Sunday. Admission is scheduled for 7.30 pm and the show starts at 9.30 pm.
The 3rd Dillenburg Fairytale Festival starts at 12.00 noon on Whit Sunday and Whit Monday and ends at 5.30 pm. Visitors can look forward to the musical "Peter Pan - Das Nimmerlandmu-sical" (text and music: Jan Radermacher and Timo Riegelsberger) on Sunday and Monday at 12.30 pm and 3.30 pm. Between the performances, the young Schlossberg guests are invited to take part in hands-on theater on stage and dance around the campfire with the Indians. The members of the "Fähnlein" will lead through the program, entertaining visitors to the Schlossberg with a fairytale atmosphere between the musical performances.
Supporting program for the whole family
There is also a great and varied supporting program for young and old to marvel at and take part in. On Whit Sunday, the popular children's face painting will make the youngest visitors' eyes light up. The Dillenburger Museumsverein e.V. will be offering individual wooden sword making on both days. In addition, there will once again be a creative handicrafts corner with button making by the Oranienstadt Dillenburg and the popular archery and dart throwing. The Children's Cultural Center (Kikuz e.V.) will be participating with a stand where lino printing, a classic and oldest form of printing, can be practiced. With a little luck, small prizes can also be won on the wheel of fortune of the Förderverein Wildpark Dillenburg-Donsbach e.V.. There will also be a children's carousel for younger guests on both days of the event. On Whit Monday, the Nanzenbach elementary school will also be hosting a great hands-on activity entitled "Fairy tales in a shoe box".
Local businesses also showcase their craftsmanship. In addition to home-sewn children's clothing (only available on Whitsun Sunday), guests can look forward to lovingly handcrafted decorative items made of wood and fine, home-made liqueurs. The local folk trio "Ayrgathán" will provide a musical backdrop.
Food and drink will also be well catered for. Members of the Schlossbergverein Dillenburg e.V., among others, will provide guests with homemade cakes. Other culinary delicacies such as ice cream specialties, crêpes and waffles, cheese spaetzle, burgers, stew and hearty grilled dishes will also be on offer. There will also be a wide range of drinks on offer.
