Cycling in the Westerwald: Cycle in a loop around the Westerwald on the Westerwaldschleife
Explore the Westerwald in three stages – cycle tours in the Westerwald
The Westerwaldschleife circles the Westerwald from the Rhine to the Lahn in three stages. Discover the scenic and cultural diversity of the Westerwald and numerous attractions over a distance of around 225 km.
The cycle tour starts in Linz am Rhein on the Rhine cycle route. From here, the first stage (approx. 75 km) passes through the Raiffeisen region and ends in Wissen/Sieg. The next stage (approx. 74 km) takes you through the northernmost point of the Westerwald in Rhineland-Palatinate: Wildenburger Land. It ends just before Bad Marienberg. On the last stage (approx. 76 km) you will climb the Fuchskaute, the highest point in the Westerwald, with fantastic views. Afterwards, a quiet route brings you to the Wiesensee lake and then via a disused railway line south to Diez an der Lahn on the Lahn cycle route.
